I attended the University of Lagos from 2009 to 2014 and graduated from the Estate Management Department with a CGPA of 4.47, the best in my set. I am now a certified chartered international accountant and currently work as a senior audit associate at KPMG Professional Services where I lead the external audit of various local and multinational Companies in the consumer markets industry.

Though I studied Estate Management, the versatility of the courses we studied helped me hit the ground running when I decided to join one of the big four accounting firms in the world, as I had taken introductory accounting courses as part of the requirement under the undergraduate program.

The University of Lagos has a strong brand and having the brand on my resume has opened doors for me in my career thus far as you would find the University’s alumni at every step of the way.

While in school, I co-founded a campus based free student magazine which made waves throughout the school. We were able to publish 4 volumes of the magazine and featured top celebrities and political leaders. We also got an invitation from President Jonathan’s administration to participate in a Maiden Job Creation Stakeholders’ Forum and Nigeria’s centenary anniversary dinner. Thinking back, these feats were only achievable due to the strong support systems available in the University.

I also had the opportunity to participate in various educational and social events back in school which has really helped me build a strong network and developed vital soft skills early in my career.

Reminiscing on my experiences throughout my education at the University of Lagos is one of mixed feelings as I also had very serious challenges.

Notwithstanding, I couldn’t have imagined studying at a more rounded federal institution of learning in Nigeria other than the University of Lagos.
