My experience studying at the University of Lagos (Unilag) was positive overall, and I am pleased to have been associated with such a great institution. I studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the university, which I started as a foundation (diploma) student before joining the main cohort in the second year. The school environment, classes and lab facilities all created a fantastic atmosphere that added to the learning experience. There were internet facilities provided in classrooms (I believe this was first of its kind in federal universities at the time) and state-of-the-art computing labs that facilitated independent learning and self-development. Thanks to all the experience I gained, I left feeling confident and prepared for future career endeavours. I also made life-long great friends. I went on to pursue a Masters degree, and later, a Doctorate, both in Control Systems Engineering at the University of Sheffield. I worked in academia/research with the Rolls Royce University Technology Centre in Sheffield for a couple of years before joining Alten UK as a systems engineer. Now, in retrospect, I can confidently say that my time in UNILAG equipped me with the necessary background skills that shaped and continues to shape my academic and professional life, big thanks!
